Global access to Online Yoga from its birthplace, India

The Indian subcontinent has substantially contributed to world knowledge. India invented the number system. The concept of “Zero” was the invention of the Indian scholar Aryabhatta. “Ayurveda”, the oldest healthcare system known to mankind, came from India. Indians made giant contributions in the fields of trigonometry, algebra, arithmetic, astronomy, philosophy. Among these  is also the ancient practice of yoga that has remained steady through the rise and fall of  civilizations.

Being a Yoga Teacher, over the years people from diverse regions have asked me if it was possible to access  yoga from its birthplace- India, without having to travel there and I would wonder about the possibilities of yoga traversing across borders. Now, the world wide web has made that possible. The digital age has ushered in a new era for yoga. With Online Yoga Classes in Sydney, one can access  yoga from its birthplace from any part of the globe.

Evolution into a Global Phenomenon

Yoga’s migration from India to the global stage began in the late 19th century. Renowned yogis like Swami Vivekananda and Paramahansa Yogananda introduced yoga to the West, igniting curiosity and interest. However, it wasn’t until the latter half of the 20th century that yoga gained significant traction in the West. The integration of yoga into mainstream culture and it’s recognized health benefits led to a surge in its popularity worldwide. Today yoga in the west has taken on a western tint, where posture practice is the main focus. Westerners are generally athletic and good at the physical practice but the deeper philosophy of yoga takes a backseat. Practicing yoga with trained Indian teachers gives one a feel of a more authentic yoga.

Online Classes At ‘Yoga with Sapna’

I would describe my Online Classes as ‘Open Classes’ which means the class is suitable for all levels of practitioners. Students do need to modify postures which are challenging for them. For this we have the aid of a number of props. Students are advised to purchase a set of these props when they enrol for my class. I demonstrate and instruct each class along with my students. Students have the option of attending live or doing the class with the recording link which stays active for upto a week after live class.
